Land Rover has announced plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of an expedition across the Continental Divide by taking a variety of 2014 Range Rovers on a 1,000 mile (1,609 km) commemorative adventure.

The models will be completely stock and be forced to navigate "narrow rocky trails with steep drop-offs and mountain passes over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters)." Land Rover says this will demonstrate their continued leadership at combining exceptional luxury with off-road capability.

The company also announced plans to auction off a fully restored 1990 Range Rover Great Divide Replica on eBay. The auction kicks off on August 4th and the proceeds will benefit Tread Lightly! which promotes responsible off-roading.

According to Land Rover North America Brand Vice President Kim McCullough "By commemoratingthe 25th anniversary of the Great Divide and of Tread Lightly!, Land Rover reaffirms its continued commitment to off-road capability and environmental responsibility.”
