Daniele Pelligra, a young architecture student from Syracuse, Italy, has envisioned a Le Mans LMP1 race car, based on the Ferrari LaFerrari.
About two days after the rendering hit the web, it was reposted on Kimi Raikkonen’s official Facebook page, enjoying a strong interest from the audience.
In the beginning of June this year, Spain's El Mundo Deportivo reported some speculation that the Italian brand could be returning in the legendary endurance race. Nothing official followed, but it is still believed the company is considering such a move.
"It (Le Mans) is one of a handful of races that has defined the history of motor sport," Fernando Alonso, Ferrari F1 driver, was quoted before this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. "I'm keen to check out the details on this type of car”, he added.
A year ago, the now-ousted Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali said F1's new turbo V6 engines "would allow some interesting projects", but "at the moment I cannot say more".
