Fiat has announced the 2015 500 Abarth (US-spec) is now available with an optional six-speed automatic transmission.
After launching the regular 2015MY 500 with an optional six-speed automatic, Fiat is doing the same thing with the Abarth version offered also as a cabriolet. Power comes from the familiar 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine delivering 157 bhp (117 kW) and 183 lb-ft (248 Nm) which now can work with an optional six-speed auto 'box featuring a more robust heat treatment allowing higher torque capability.
It also boasts additional clutch plates while in Sport mode it provides rev-matching and brake-assist downshifts, fuel-cut upshifts as well as fast-off gear hold and corner gear hold. Fiat says the Sport mode also brings a more aggressive pedal map to provide a livelier acceleration.
Production of the US-spec Fiat 500 Abarth and Abarth Cabrio started this week in Toluca, Mexico and the first cars will be delivered later in the summer.
