Lexus' contest for selecting the name of an orange hue for the RC F has ended and the winner is "Solar Flare."

After a month and almost 400 entries, Lexus has a name for the RC F's orange paint and it's called Solar Flare. The company's UK division launched a color naming contest to find out which would be the most appropriate moniker and after narrowing it down to 10 names, Lexus UK Director Richard Balshaw chose "Solar Flare" which was submitted in five different comments on Facebook.

Lurking underneath the orange hood is Lexus' most powerful ever V8 engine, a 5.0-liter that puts out more than 450 bhp (335 kW) and 383 lb-ft (518 Nm). It works with an eight-speed Direct Shift gearbox which enables the potent coupe to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 4.6 seconds on its way to a maximum speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

Besides featuring a strong eight-cylinder engine, the RC F also comes with a carbon fiber roof and active rear spoiler derived from the LFA and deployable at 50 mph (80 km/h). Lexus installed a sport-tuned suspension and a three-mode torque vectoring differential to create the "RC F to be enjoyed by all enthusiasts - no matter what their level of expertise", according to the car's chief engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi.
