ABT has introduced a comprehensive aftermarket package for the Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet.
The changes start on the outside where the open-top bug has received a restyled front spoiler, rear panel and rear skirt set while the headlights feature body-colored covers. The tuner's alloy wheels are also offered in sizes ranging from 18 to 20 inches and can be matched with custom suspension springs lowering the front by 30mm and the rear by 35mm. Other upgrades include a two-pipe rear muffler and a custom braking system encompassing 345x30mm rotors with black calipers.
The more significant changes occur in the engine department where the 1.2 TSI can develop 140 PS (103 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft), up from the series 105 PS (77 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft). Up next is the 1.4 TSI modified to develop 210 PS (154 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) which is a considerable gain compared to the stock 160 PS (118 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft).
ABT is also offering a boost for 2.0 TFSI (stock 200 PS & 280 Nm) to 240 PS (176 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft). Moreover, the 210 PS & 280 Nm version of the same engine can be tuned to provide 260 PS (191 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
On the diesel side, the 1.6 TDI with its 105 PS (77 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) can be massaged to churn 125 PS (92 kW) and 285 Nm (210 lb-ft) while the 2.0 TDI packing 140 PS (103 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) is modified to produce 170 PS (125 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft).
