A pre-production F-150 was seen yesterday in in suburban Detroit flaunting its aluminum body that has managed to shave off up to 700 lbs (317 kg). It draws styling cues from the Atlas concept and will be offered in five trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum. Engine options include a V6 2.7-liter EcoBoost, a V6 3.5-liter EcoBoost, a V6 3.5-liter and a larger V8 5.0-liter Ti-VCT - with all of them being mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

At an additional cost, customers will have the possibility of opting for appearance, sport and off-road packages. Inside the cabin it boasts an eight-inch display in the instrument cluster, along with a rearview camera, 360-degree camera system, trailer brake controller and high-wattage power outlets. Other goodies include LED bed lights, trailer hitch assist and a remote tailgate which can be unlocked, locked and released by using the key fob.

Deliveries of the 2015 Ford F-150 will commence this fall.
