According to reports out of Germany, Porsche is working on an entry-level roadster.

Details are limited but the model will reportedly be launched in 2016 and wear the 718 moniker. The car is rumored to be based on the Boxster and will reportedly be relatively lightweight.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but rumors suggest the entry-level model will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 286 PS (210 kW). There could also be a 2.5-liter engine that develops 360 PS (265 kW), but nothing is official as of yet.

If everything pans out, the model would cost approximately €39,000 which would make it roughly €10,000 cheaper than the Boxster.
