Nissan has announced plans to compete with Audi, Porsche and Toyota at Le Mans in 2015.
As part of the effort, Nissan will field two new GT-R LM NISMO race cars that appear to have little resemble to the road-going model.
According to Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do" and "there is no better place to demonstrate innovation than here in Europe’s new hot-bed of digital marketing and, from next year, on track at Le Mans."
Little is known about the GT-R LM NISMO but Palmer hinted "We won’t be turning up in a vehicle which is a basically another hybrid that looks like another Porsche, Audi or Toyota - they all look the same to me - our intention is to do something that is a little bit different.” Palmer also said the car will have new technology which is transferable to road-going models.
Performance specifications and the driver lineup will be revealed in the coming months so stay tuned for details.
