Mercedes just unveiled the C-Class Estate but that hasn't stopped the company's head of research and development from confirming plans for additional body styles.

Speaking to Auto Express, Thomas Weber said we should expect a coupe and convertible as well as some additional variants. He declined to go into specifics but said "There is room [for a four-door coupe] between the CLA and the CLS - we are intensively looking at remaining niches that will provide us with profitability and growth."

Previous reports have also suggested Mercedes could introduce a C-Class hatchback to battle the BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo but we haven't heard much about the rumored variant lately.
