Peugeot is allegedly considering a smaller crossover called 2008 RX which is said to adopt a three-door configuration.

It was only yesterday when we talked about a potential smaller crossover from Renault called Kwid and now French compatriot Peugeot is reportedly planning a similar model. It will receive the 2008 RX or 1008 moniker and should feature a three-door body style and an overall length of 3900mm which would make it almost 300mm shorter than the 2008.

The vehicle is slated for a summer 2016 market launch with an engine lineup borrowed from the 208 and 2008 models which will include three-cylinder turbocharged and naturally-aspirated units.

As a side note, the 2008 RX / 1008 won't be Peugeot's only upcoming new crossover as a mid-size 6008 is also in the works and will be launched in China next year. There are also talks about a road-going 2008 DKR but the model hasn't been confirmed yet by the French marque.
