A prototype of the next generation Hyundai ix35 / Tucson was caught on camera recently by our spy photographers while testing in Germany around the Nürburgring.

The vehicle was wearing an extensive amount of camouflage which could mean Hyundai has prepared a full makeover for its crossover which will likely be introduced towards the end of next year as a 2016MY. Our spy photographers who had the opportunity to see the car in the metal say that it looks essentially like a smaller Santa Fe, which isn’t really a big surprise nowadays when just about all automakers avoid differentiating their models too much.

The prototype spotted testing at the Nordschleife also had a fresh new alloy wheel set and featured restyled dual exhaust pipes. Details about the engine lineup are not available at this point but most likely these will be carried over from the current model along with the Fuel Cell version since Hyundai has already announced they want to ramp up production of the model.
