Tiago Monteiro has traded his WTCC Honda Civic in for the world's fastest lawn mower - the Honda Mean Mower.
Unafraid of the damp conditions, Monteiro had plenty of fun at Spa Francorchamps last week as tooled around the track on the Honda Mean Mower. While the tractor isn't exactly suited for racing, Monteiro hit speeds for up to 80 mph (128 km/h) as he approached the infamous Eau Rouge corner.
According to Monteiro, “I’ve competed at Spa in many different cars but this was a little bit different! It’s fast, very fast, and quite sensitive, making it difficult to drive at pace. With such huge power and acceleration you need a lot of concentration to take on the Eau Rouge, particularly on such a wet track.”
As a refresher, the Mean Mower is based on the Honda HF2620 and features a 1000cc VTR Firestorm motorbike engine that produces 109 bhp (81 kW) and 71 lb-ft (96 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed paddle-shift transmission which enables the mower to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than four seconds.
