German tuner MTM has created an upgrade program for the Volkswagen Golf VII R.
Those of you who can't wait for a production version of the Golf R 400 concept can settle with the next best thing, MTM's tuned Golf VII R which packs 360 PS (265 kW) from the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. Aside from the 60 PS (44 kW) bump, the modified hot hatchback has also received an additional 70 Nm (51 lb-ft) of torque for a grand total of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft).
The additional oomph is obtained by installing an M-Cantronic module (2,055 EUR) and has slashed 0.7 seconds from the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run which means the DSG-fitted Golf R can now do the sprint in just 4.2 seconds while the top speed has remained electronically capped at 155 mph (250 km/h).
For an extra 5,115 EUR (plus 367 EUR installation costs), the owner of a latest-gen Golf R can get MTM's eight-piston front brake calipers with 380x34mm rotors, while the 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 (235/35 ZR 19) tires will further increase the bill.
MTM is asking 54,875 EUR for the whole package (including car).
