Audi CEO Rupert Stadler has revealed the A1 and A3 will be equipped with a three-cylinder engine.
Speaking at the sidelines of the Beijing Motor Show, Stadler told Auto Express "In the A1 and the A3, the three-cylinder will be a standard engine in the future." While some fans will likely decry the news, Stadler said the engine will deliver a "good feeling and plenty of torque.”
There's no word on when the engines will arrive but the CEO confirmed the A1 will get a three-cylinder engine before the A3. Stadler also declined to mention performance specifications but the Volkswagen Polo offers a 1.4-liter three-cylinder diesel that develops up to 104 bhp (77 kW).
