McLaren's CEO Mike Flewitt said in an interview at this year's Beijing Motor Show the company isn't taking into consideration building a crossover or an SUV.
Although Maserati and other rivals are preparing crossovers or SUVs, McLaren plans to "remain very focused" since its CEO says "we genuinely believe we make the best sports cars in the world." With a full commitment on sports cars, McLaren will launch a new model each year and their next product will be the entry-level P13 due in 2015.
The company's intentions are to boost sales to approximately 4,000 cars by 2017, considerably more than last year's 1,400 and the targeted 1,600 for 2014. McLaren has set a price floor of 177,000 USD which means all new models won't go below this figure and next year's P13 is expected to start at 200,820 USD, according to Flewitt.
