PSA Peugeot Citroen left the United States nearly 25 years ago but a new report is indicating the company is considering a return to America.

When asked about the possibility of an American relaunch, PSA Peugeot Citroen CEO Carlos Tavares said the company would first need to complete their Back in the Race revitalization program which calls for the company to return to profitability by reducing production costs, cutting their model lineup and turning their upscale DS variants into a "full-fledged" premium brand. However, Tavares didn't rule out the possibility of a U.S. return as he said once those goals are accomplished they can "look at the next steps we should take."

While the door is open to PSA's return, it would likely be several years off as the company's revitalization program is expected to take three or four years to complete.
