A source within Infiniti has told British media the Q50 Eau Rogue will see the light of production day.

His exact words were "at this stage it would take more to stop the car getting made than to start things" and "there is a real buzz about it." If green-lighted for production, the design will be carried over virtually unchanged as Infiniti's design director Alfonso Albaisa said "why would we change anything? This is not a show car."

We remind you at the beginning of the month Infiniti released a video with a prototype being tested at the Millbrook Proving Ground by Sebastian Vettel. Power of the vehicle came from the same Nissan GT-R derived V6 3.8-liter twin-turbo but instead of the concept's 568 PS (418 kW) output the prototype delivered 560 PS (412 kW).

Albaisa also said Infiniti's upcoming performance models could feature the Q50 Eau Rouge's striking red paint scheme as a signature color. However, if the Q50 ER will enter production it will be offered in other hues as well.

Infiniti released a press release today in which they say the Q50 Eau Rouge has evolved from being a prototype to "an engineering feasibility study" and a decision regarding a production model is "currently under evaluation."
