Volkswagen will be showing starting Sunday at 2014 Beijing Motor Show the New Midsize Coupe design study.

Rumors about a Golf/Jetta CC have been swirling around the web for a couple of years and it seems it could actually happen as for this year's Beijing Motor Show the German marque has prepared a design study of a four-door coupe which hints at a more stylish Golf-based model. They say it's shorter than the Jetta while being wider than the Passat.

In charge of styling was Volkswagen's brand design chief Klaus Bischoff who envisioned the concept with a low sloping roof, 20-inch wheels shod in 245/40 tires along with a chromed dual exhaust setup and a short rear overhang.

Other details are scarce at the moment but we do know power comes from a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TSI engine outputting 220 PS (162 kW) which propels the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds before topping out at 152 mph (245 km/h).

Check back this weekend for full details about the concept.
