The 2015 Mercedes AMG GT has been spied stretching its legs on the Nürburgring.
Set to be unveiled later this year, the highly anticipated model has a distinctive shape that recalls the SLS AMG and the 300 SL that won the 1952 Panamericana. While the car is heavily camouflaged, we can see a single bar grille, aggressive air intakes and the outline of the sweptback headlights. The model also has an active rear spoiler and a four-tailpipe exhaust system which suggests this particular prototype is a high-performance variant.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but AMG CEO Tobias Moers recently said "There won’t be a V6 version of the AMG GT." This likely means the model will be powered exclusively by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. Nothing is official but previous reports have indicated the entry-level model will produce 485 HP (357 kW), while the S variant could develop approximately 550 HP (404 kW).
