More details have emerged about McLaren's upcoming P13 entry-level model slated to go on sale sometime in 2015.

Set to compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo, McLaren's base model is going to adopt the same V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine but detuned to develop somewhere in the region of 500 HP (368 kW) which should be enough for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in about 4 seconds. It will be lighter and smaller than the 12C while the styling will be a combination between the 650S and P1 so don't expect any significant design changes.

It's hard to predict the model's final name taking into account the rather peculiar and confusing nomenclature implemented by McLaren. The British marque estimates it will be the best-selling model ever and will represent a major factor in reaching the company's objective of shifting 4,000 units per year by 2016.

It is believed the McLaren P13 will have a starting price of approximately 180,000 USD (130,000 EUR / 109,000 GBP) and will be unveiled at next year's Geneva Motor Show before going on sale several months later.
