Gumpert sales and marketing chief Harald Schlegel has announced the Tornante production version is scheduled for a 2015 release.

Back in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show we saw Gumpert's interesting Tornante concept developed in collaboration with Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera while towards the end of December 2012 several purported official images of the production model emerged but nothing materialized. Gumpert almost went bust but now they are back in business and they plan to put the Tornante into production next year as a build to order model.

It will ride on the Apollo platform and will likely be unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and according to Harald Schlegel it will look different than the concept, possibly similar to those leaked pics we mentioned in the above paragraph.

Little else is known about the car but we remind you the concept came with an Audi-sourced twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 690 bhp (515 kW) which allowed the car to go beyond the 186 mph (300 km/h) mark. When the concept debuted at the Swiss show, Gumpert said also something about "an alternative powered Tornante" but it never saw the light of day.
