Following its online reveal last month, the second generation of the Peugeot 108 has been introduced in Geneva this week.

Peugeot’s entry-level model has reached a new generation that brings a significant evolution over its predecessor. The lightest version weighs just 840 kg (1,851 lbs) so it should be quite a nimble car around the city thanks also to a couple of 3-cylinder gasoline engines such as a 68 bhp 1.0-liter e-VTi (available with start/stop) and a 82 bhp 1.2-liter PureTech VTi. Both engines send their power to the front axle through a five-speed manual gearbox.

The new 108 will be offered not only as a three- and five-door model but also as a 108 TOP! variant featuring a retractable fabric roof which is 76cm long and 80cm wide. The vehicle is 3.47 meters long and 1.62 meters wide and the open-top version is fitted as standard with an automatically deployable aero-acoustic deflector.

Slated to go on sale this summer, the second-gen Peugeot 108 will be offered with 14- and 15-inch alloys, a standard hill start assist system as well as an indirect under-inflation system. Up front will be 247mm ventilated discs while the rear axle features 200mm drums.

Inside the cabin will be a seven-inch touchscreen display, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, six airbags, automatic air conditioning and electric power steering. Peugeot has fitted the supermini with its Open and Go system together with an electronic control switch for the soft top while safety systems include ABS, switchable ESP, Emergency Collision Braking System and Electronic Brake Force Distribution.

Also at the Swiss show Peugeot is exhibiting a five-door 108 Tattoo concept created in collaboration with tattoo artist Xoil. The model can be distinguished by its special exterior finish and a combination of leather and woven wool inside.
