The Copenhagen Wheel, developed by students at MIT’s SENSEable City Lab, quickly transforms ordinary bicycles into a smart hybrid e-bikes. It contains a motor, a removable lithium battery pack and a gear system, packed in a centrally located red hub.

The wheel provides some environmental and location data used for related mobile applications. You can unlock and lock your bike, change gears and select how much the motor assists you via your phone.

Production of the first 1000 units has just began with deliveries scheduled to start in late spring. You can have your bike transformed into a hybrid bicycle for $799.
