Nissan has indirectly announced the next generation of the Murano will be introduced in a couple of weeks at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

The Japanese marque says at the Swiss show next month they will exhibit the "next member of Nissan's rejuvenated crossover family" which can only mean they are referring to the 2015 Murano. Previous rumors indicated an April reveal at the New York Auto Show but it seems we won't have to wait that long for what will be a mid-size crossover with styling cues taken from the Resonance concept.

The third generation of the Nissan Murano will likely utilize the same architecture as the Altima and will keep roughly the same physical dimensions as the outgoing model. Under the hood it is expected to receive an uprated 3.5-liter V6 linked to a CVT while a plug-in hybrid derivative is also a possibility with the technology borrowed from the Pathfinder Hybrid where the system churns 250 bhp (186 kW) and 329 Nm (243 lb-ft) from a 2.5-liter supercharged gasoline engine and an electric motor.

On a final note, Nissan has allegedly decided to axe the weird Murano CrossCabriolet due to slow demand.
