BMW shook up internet marketing over a decade ago with their hit series The Hire and a new report is indicating the highly praised BMW Film series is set to return.

According to Ad Age, BMW North America's Vice President of Marketing, Trudy Hardy, has confirmed plans to resurrect BMW Films. Hardy declined to elaborate and it remains unclear if the series would follow in the steps of its predecessor and feature Clive Owen as "The Driver."

Despite the lack of details, speculation suggests the new series could be used to help launch the BMW i sub-brand. This would be a natural fit as the Z4 was prominently featured in the last series and the i8 is BMW's newest sports car.

As a refresher, BMW launched the first two films in The Hire series back in 2001. They were eventually followed by six other movies that featured A-list actors and top directors. The series was an instant hit and received over 100 million views.
