Fiat has announced a Beats Edition for the 500L model which from now on will be offered with two additional engines.
First up, the 500L Beats Edition comes with an uprated Beats sound system developed specifically for this model by Dr. Dre and Interscope Geffen A&M Records chairman and record producer Jimmy Iovine. The exterior of this special model is distinguished by a two-tone grey and black livery available in matte or glossy finishes and complemented by red and satin chrome elements. On the inside there's a similar style with a "total black" look, an eco-leather black trim with red stitching as well as a new fabric.
Fiat says the 500L Beats Edition will go on sale this week in Italy but the rest of Europe will also get it very soon.
Aside from coming up with a special edition, Fiat is introducing two new engines for the 500L in the form of a 1.6-liter MultiJet II turbodiesel and a 1.4-liter T-Jet turbocharged gasoline motor. Both of them deliver 120 HP (88 kW) but obviously are differentiated by the torque figure which in the diesel stands at 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) while the gasoline engine delivers 215 Nm (158 lb-ft).
The diesel-powered 500L will run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 10.7 seconds and return 51.1 mpg US (61.4 mpg UK or 4.6 liters / 100 km) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 120 g/km. The gasoline-running model is 0.5s quicker in the sprint and returns 34 mpg US (41 mpg UK or 6.9 liters / 100 km) with 159 g/km of CO2 emissions. Regardless of the engine choice, these two new 500L models have a top speed of 117 mph (189 km/h).
Fiat is also adding a 500L Business version "dedicated to professionals", a fresh Venezia Blue metallic body paint, new fabric and leather upholsteries, along with additional optional packages.
