Hyundai has unveiled today in New Delhi, India the Xcent compact sedan which is scheduled to go on sale next month.
The new model is based on the Grand i10 and will be positioned in the lower mid-segment once it goes on sale next month. The vehicle is less than four meters long and will have to compete with fresh arrivals in this segment such as the Tata ZEST and a forthcoming production version of the Ford Figo sedan concept.
Unlike the rest of the cars in this segment, the Hyundai Xcent will have rear central vents and will come with a start/stop button and several stowage spaces in the cabin. Customers will also have the possibility to configure the car with automatic AC, rear parking sensors and camera, auto-folding mirrors and one-touch electric trunk opening.
Engine choices will include a 1.2-liter gasoline unit taken from the Grand i10 along with a possible 1.4-liter diesel borrowed from the i20 and Verna. These engines will be coupled to manual and automatic transmissions while for safety the Xcent will come with dual airbags and ABS.
