MINI has announced the 2014 Cooper Hardtop will be priced from $19,950 - excluding a $795 destination and handling charge - in the United States.
Set to go on sale this spring, the entry-level model comes nicely equipped with a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, ambient lighting and a six-speaker audio system. The model also has air conditioning and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Power is provided by a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine that develops 134 bhp (100 kW) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque. It enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0-60 mph in as little as 7.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h).
Moving up the $23,600 Cooper S rewards buyers with sport seats, black checkered trim and 16-inch alloy wheels. There's also a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 189 bhp (141 kW) and 221 lb-ft (299 Nm) of torque. This allows the car to run from 0-60 mph in as little as 6.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of up to 146 mph (235 km/h).
