New details are starting to emerge about the Volkswagen Golf R Evo concept.

According to Autocar, the concept will use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been equipped with new cylinder heads, an improved induction system and various other tweaks. These changes will reportedly enable the engine to produce approximately 370 bhp (276 kW) and 332 lb-ft (449 Nm) of torque - an increase of 74 bhp (55 kW) and 52 lb-ft (70 Nm).

Besides having extra oomph, the concept is expected to have a stripped out interior and carbon fiber body panels. If everything pans out, the car could tip the scales at less than 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs).

The concept is expected to debut at the Beijing Motor Show and rumors suggest a production variant is a possibility.
