Nissan has put together a driver's assistance technology sandwich which ultimately aims for “collision free” driving. By incorporating two new technologies called Side Collision Prevention (SCP) and Back-up Collision Prevention (BCP) combined with current systems Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Nissan has created a “safety shield” concept to help prevent incoming collisions from multiple directions.

For Nissan, the goal is to cut in half the number of traffic fatalities or serious injuries involving Nissan vehicles by 2015 compared with the level in 1995.
