[UPDATE] Photos have been removed at the request of Fiat S.p.A.
Several patent sketches of the Fiat 500X have surfaced the web, prior to the vehicle's unveiling programmed sometime this year.
We already saw Fiat's 500-based crossover numerous times in spy photos and now these sketches provide a more complete look for a model which is being developed alongside a new entry-level global Jeep model. Both cars will be manufactured starting this year by Fiat in Melfi, Italy with an output of 1,600 units per day .
While Fiat's 500X has a more contoured shape, the Jeep Junior/Jeepster will adopt a significantly boxier appearance which based on yesterday's spy shots resemblances the Nissan Cube although the heavy camo could enhance the boxy look.
Both vehicles will probably ride on a stretched Fiat 500L platform which should provide enough room for five people. As a consequence, engines will be taken from the 500L so expect to find a 0.9-liter TwinAir Turbo, a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo and a 1.6-liter MultiJet II turbodiesel.
An unveiling could occur as early as March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
