A GTI version of the recently introduced Peugeot 308 SW has been spied for the first time during winter testing.
It seems Peugeot has big expansion plans for the all-new 308 as the model will receive not only a sedan version but also a hotter GTI derivative for the SW variant. The latter is scheduled to come out towards the end of 2014 or in early 2015 and will likely utilize the same engine as the 308 GTI hatchback.
Power is expected to come from a 1.6-liter THP engine delivering somewhere in the region of 250 bhp (186 kW) while other upgrades will include 19-inch alloys, updated steering system, uprated brakes, as well as a lowered suspension featuring larger anti-roll bars, stiffer springs and dampers together with bigger shocks.
As a side note, Peugeot is also planning a range-topping R version of the hatchback previewed by a concept last September which had 270 bhp (201 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) coming out of the same 1.6-liter THP engine.
