Development work continues on the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer as our spies have caught the model undergoing cold weather testing near the Arctic Circle.

While the prototype is heavily camouflaged, ours spies have previously snapped pictures of the model undisguised. Those images revealed the MPV will be heavily influenced by the Active Tourer concept that debuted at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

BMW hasn't said much about the model but it will ride on the new UKL front-wheel drive platform that underpins the MINI Cooper.

Engine options remain unconfirmed but the model is expected to use BMW's new 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine. Detailed specifications haven't been released but BMW has previously confirmed the petrol engine will have outputs ranging from 122 HP (90 kW) to 224 HP (165 kW), while the diesel develops 82 HP (60 kW) to 184 HP (135 kW).
