According to a recent report, Audi and Google are developing a new infotainment system that runs on the Android operating system.

Citing "people familiar with the matter," the Wall Street Journal says the companies will announce their collaboration at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Little is known about the system but it is expected to use the same operating system that powers smartphones and tablets. This means it should be able to run a variety of apps and Google services.

Audi of America Product Planning Manager Filip Brabec declined to confirm the partnership but hinted "Cars are becoming more complex, and with the computing power that is going into vehicles, you need that type of system in the car."
