Vauxhall has released new details about the 2014 VXR8 GTS ahead of its debut at Autosport International.

Based on the HSV GEN-F GTS, the VXR8 GTS is described as a BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG competitor that has a "loud and proud character" that the German's can't match.

Trolling aside, Vauxhall confirmed the model has a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 engine that develops 576 bhp (429 kW) and 545 lb-ft (738 Nm) of torque - 150 bhp (112 kW) and 140 lb-ft (189 Nm) more than the previous VXR8. This enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

To keep things under control, the VXR8 GTS has been equipped with an upgraded Magnetic Ride Control system and a new Brake-Torque Vectoring system that applies "braking to the inside rear wheel and transfers torque to the outside rear wheel to reduce understeer during high-speed maneuvers."

The VXR8 GTS will be priced from £54,999 and the first deliveries are slated to occur early next year.
