Mahindra Racing has announced its plans to participate in Formula E next year.
Formula E will electrify the world of motorsport for the very first time in 2014 when the inaugural season will be organized. Mahindra Racing is the eighth team to join the competition and they will race against Audi Sport ABT, Drayson Racing, Super Aguri, China Racing, Dragon Racing Andretti Autosport and e.dams.
A total of ten teams will take part in the 2014 Formula E championship and all will race with the Spark-Renault SRT_01E which was designed and built by Spark Racing Technology. The vehicle has a 268 bhp (200 kW) electric motor from McLaren Electronics System who will also provide the gearbox and electronics, while the battery management system and supply will be handled by Williams Advanced Engineering.
The first Formula E championship will commence in September 2014 and will be organized in the following locations: Beijing, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Uruguay, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Miami, Monaco, Berlin and London. Practice, qualifying session and the race will be held in a single day.
