Our spies have sent us a very revealing photo of the dashboard inside the upcoming 2014 Nissan Almera successor.

Several hours ago we provided a fresh batch of spy photos with Nissan's replacement for the Almera and now the five-door hatchback has returned to show us its rather plain dashboard. Nissan plans to take on the Golf with this new model but the interior cabin fails to impress as it doesn't appear to be more premium than on other recent Nissans.

Seen here is a right-hand drive car equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox and a start/stop button. This is probably one of the lesser models as it has a small center screen while the upper-spec versions are likely to get a generous touchscreen display with navigation. The central area of the dashboard has a glossy finish which unsurprisingly seems to be a fingerprint magnet.

We are not excluding the possibility this could be a mockup to hide the original design which hopefully will look better.
