Maserati has announced the 2014 Ghibli will be priced from $65,600 in the United States.

Currently arriving at U.S. dealerships, the Ghibli is described as a "prestige saloon" that isn't just for "special occasions."

While the Ghibli costs more than a similarly equipped BMW 5-Series or Mercedes E-Class, Maserati is hoping the brand's unique mix of prestige and sportiness will sway buyers into their showrooms.

The entry-level model is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 345 bhp (257 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. It enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 165 mph (266 km/h).

If that isn't fast enough, the Ghibli S Q4 has an upgraded twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 404 bhp (301 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Thanks to all-wheel drive and the extra oomph, the car accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 175 mph (282 km/h).
