Brodie Brittain Racing (BBR) has launched a limited-run upgrade package for the Mazda MX-5.

About a year ago BBR introduced a power boost for the MX-5 which bumped output of the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter to 258 bhp (192 kW) and now they have gone even further with this GT270 kit which has increased the horsepower number to 268 bhp (199 kW) at 7,350 rpm and torque to 227 lb-ft (307 Nm) from 3,000 rpm.

These numbers were achieved after revising the Garrett turbocharger, recalibrating the ECU and implementing a wide array of aftermarket parts such as a cast iron stainless steel turbo manifold, downpipe, high-flow intercooler, fuel injectors, clutch and a lightweight aluminum battery tray.

The vehicle weighs 1,190 kg and needs only 4.9 seconds to complete the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run before topping out at an electronically-capped 150 mph (241 km/h).

The kit is offered in the MK3.5 (NC) 2.0-liter Sport Tech Roadster Coupe model and will be available in a limited series of just 100 units. It can be ordered at BBR or Mazda UK dealer MKG3000 for 29,995 GBP (car included).

Further details can be found in the attached press release.
