The Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E race car has completed its first test a track in France.

With Lucas di Grassi behind the wheel, the SRT_01E completed 40 laps, over the course of two days, to ensure all the systems were working properly.

While the test car had a smaller battery which limited the peak output to 68 HP (50 kW), Di Grassi said “I can assure all the drivers they will have a lot of fun with this car – even with just a quarter of the power, it has quite a lot of grip and the electric motor produces huge torque."

As we have previously reported, the Spark-Renault SRT_01E will have a Dallara-designed monocoque chassis and a McLaren-sourced electric powertrain can produce up to 270 HP (200 kW). This should enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in approximately three seconds and hit an FIA-limited top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph).
