Shelby American has introduced the Shelby GT at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Based on the 2014 Ford Mustang GT, the Shelby GT features a new front fascia, a fiberglass hood and a billet grille. The model has also been equipped with a short shifter, a Ford Racing suspension and 20-inch alloy wheels with BFG G-Force Comp2 tires.
Power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that has a new air intake, and a sports exhaust system. This enables the engine to produce 430 bhp (320 kW) - a modest increase of 10 hp (7 kW).
Moving up to the GT/SC adds a supercharger which enables the engine to produce 525 bhp (391 kW) or 624 bhp (465 kW). In the latter state of tune, the car can accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 3.7 seconds and run the quarter mile in the mid-11 second range.
The Shelby GT package costs $14,995 while the GT/SC package starts at $27,995 - both excluding the cost of the base Mustang GT.
