BMW Brilliance has unveiled the X1-based Zinoro 1E at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
Described as the first "new energy vehicle" from a Chinese premium manufacture, the Zinoro 1E features a rear axle electric motor that develops 170 HP (125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the crossover hit an electronically limited top speed of 130 km/h (80 mph) and travel up to 150 km (93 miles) on a single charge. When the lithium iron phosphate battery is depleted, it can be fully recharged in about seven and a half hours.
Since the 1E is being marketed as a premium vehicle it comes nicely equipped with automatic climate control, heated front seats and GPS navigation. The model also has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rain sensing wipers and a boot that holds 306 liters (10.8 cubic feet) of luggage.
The 1E will be available exclusively through a rental agreement as the company is focused less on sales and more on building Zinoro's brand image and raising "customer understanding and acceptance of electric vehicles."
