Nissan has introduced the Juke Nismo RS today at the Los Angeles Auto Show, following an announcement made last month.

If the Juke Nismo simply doesn't cut it with its 197 bhp (147 kW) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) output, then Nissan has a treat for you in the form of a more powerful RS version. Described as the "king of the Juke line", the new RS squeezes 215 bhp (160 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 210 lb-ft (284 Nm) of torque between 3,600 and 4,800 rpm from the same inline-four 1.6-liter DOHC turbocharged engine.

These power figures are available for the version equipped with an improved six-speed manual gearbox and a FWD system while the variant fitted with an Xtronic CVT and AWD has 211 bhp (157 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) between 2,400 and 6,000 rpm. The additional oomph was obtained by remapping the ECU and updating the exhaust system.

As a result of installing a new front fascia and grille, the Nismo RS is 37 percent more aero-efficient compared to its lesser siblings. Instead of the usual fog lights it now has a thin strip of LED accent lights while the revised face offers an improved airflow to the uprated engine. The car has been equipped with bespoke 18-inch alloys combined with Continental ContiSportContact5 summer tires measuring 255/45 R18.

Customers will have the possibility of ordering the car with a Pearl White, Brilliant Silver or a Sapphire Black paint, while on the inside there are Recaro front seats with red leather side bolsters and black suede center inserts. The steering wheel is covered in Alcantara and for the rear seats Nissan applied red stitching.

Only one optional package will be available for the Juke Nismo RS, a Navigation Package encompassing NissanConnect with 5.8-inch display providing navigation, 3D maps, NavTraffic, voice recognition, RearView Monitor, USB and NissanConnect apps.

The 2014 Nissan Juke Nismo RS will hit dealerships in the first part of next year, with pricing to be announced closer to the car's market release.

Additional details can be found in the press release section.
