Acura has released new details about the 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid, ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Set to go on sale next spring, the RLX Sport Hybrid has a hybrid powertrain that consists of a 3.5-liter V6 engine, a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission (with a built-in electric motor) and an electric SH-AWD system with two rear electric motors. The system also has a 260 volt lithium-ion battery and a 47 bhp (35 kW) front electric motor that "supplements engine torque" to the front wheels and provides regenerative braking capabilities. Thanks to this setup, the model has a combined maximum output of 377 bhp (281 kW) and can return 28 mpg city / 32 mpg highway / 30 mpg combined (US).

On the styling front there isn't much to report as the Sport Hybrid closely mimics the standard model. However, the interior gains a head-up display and an electronic gear selector which replaces the conventional center console-mounted shifter. The model is also equipped with an infotainment system, a 7-inch On Demand Multi-Use Display and the AcuraLink connectivity system.
