Ford's Australian division has announced its intention to resurrect the Falcon XR8 for 2014.
The Blue Oval company revealed earlier this year plans to shut down its manufacturing facilities in Australia by October 2016 which means the Falcon will be axed. However, there are plans for a one last hurrah before cancelation as Ford will launch next year a Falcon XR8 based on the upcoming facelift.
The car will probably make use of a V8 5.0-liter supercharged engine delivering 455 HP (335 kW). It will also boast a Brembo braking system and a sport-tuned suspension, while to shave off development costs it will lose the bespoke styling details of the Falcon GT.
Ford Performance Vehicles will be phased out so don't expect an FPV version of the Falcon facelift. Ford did say a series of actions are planned for 2014 to celebrate the brand's "iconic status", indicating a flagship Falcon GT-HO could happen.
