Mercedes-Benz has revealed online the 2014 S65 AMG, ahead of the car's public outing set for L.A. Auto Show and Tokyo Motor Show.
The design of the new S65 AMG doesn't hold any surprises as we already saw it at the end of August during an ad shoot. It looks tastefully restrained but underneath lies a beast powered by a twin-turbo V12 6.0-liter engine producing as previous reports have indicated 630 HP (463 kW) between 4,800 and 5,400 rpm with a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) available between 2,300 and 4,300 rpm.
The 2014 S65 AMG comes with a 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission which enables the high-performance sedan to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds before topping out at an electronically-capped 155 mph (250 km/h). The car will return 23.7 mpg UK (19.7 mpg or 11.9 liters / 100 km) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 279 g/km which according to Mercedes-Benz makes it "world's most fuel-efficient V12 high-performance saloon in terms of power and torque."
It rides on 20-inch multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels shod in 255/40 R20 tires at the front and 285/35 R20 rubbers for the rear axle. Optionally available is a high-performance ceramic composite braking system which is 20 percent lighter than the standard braking kit and comes with 420mm discs and specially painted brake calipers.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG is fitted as standard with MAGIC BODY CONTROL system with ROAD SURFACE SCAN, along with ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist which eliminates understeer when turning into corners by braking the inside rear wheel.
Available exclusively with a long wheelbase, the S65 AMG is scheduled to go on sale March next year at a starting price in Germany of 232,050 EUR (VAT included).
