The Cadillac ATS-V is inching closer to production and new details are starting to emerge about the upcoming model.

According to Automobile Magazine, the sports sedan will eschew the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 for a new twin-turbo 3.2-liter V6. Little is known about the engine but sources have suggested the smaller displacement will provide a "more robust platform" for allowing it to produce more than 500 bhp (373 kW).

If the 500 bhp (373 kW) number pans out, the ATS-V would be significantly more powerful than the 2014 BMW M3 which has a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder that develops approximately 430 HP (316 kW). It would also put the model in contention with the Mercedes C63 AMG successor which could have a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with roughly 485-500 HP (356-367 kW).
