Jeep has announced plans to offer the Wrangler Polar Edition in the United States.

Originally unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the special edition is based on the Wrangler Sahara and is distinguished by a revised grille, a powerdome hood and 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels. The model also has mountain-inspired graphics, a black fuel-filler door and special badging that shows the coordinates of Vostok, Antarctica where the temperature hit a record low of -128.56° F (-89.2° C).

To fight off the chills, the cabin comes equipped with heated leather seats that have Pearl White contrast stitching and an embroidered backrest. Other highlights include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Ceramic White trim and Mopar slush mats.

Power is provided by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that develops 285 bhp (212 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to a six-speed manual or an optional five-speed automatic.

The Wrangler Polar Edition will go on sale in November and it will be available as a two- and four-door model.
