According to a recent report, Buick could offer a diesel engine in the United States.

Edmunds' source declined to say which model could get the diesel engine but the website speculates it will be the Verano. There's no word on which engine would be used but Chevrolet recently introduced a Cruze Diesel with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 148 bhp (110 kW) and up 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque.

Speaking of Buick engines, another source said the brand is considering a more powerful mill for the Encore as some buyers are turned off by the turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder that develops just 138 bhp (103 kW). Unfortunately there's no quick fix but a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder could be added to the lineup as early as the 2015 model year.
