BMW has quietly ceased production of the 1-Series Coupe and Convertible.

The 1-Series Convertible was phased out in June, while the last 1-Series Coupe rolled off the assembly line in August.

The news isn't terribly surprising as models will be replaced by a 2-Series Coupe and Convertible. The Coupe is expected to go on sale in March, while the Convertible will arrive shortly thereafter.

Leaked specifications have shown the models will be offered with at least three different engines including:

  • A 2.0-liter petrol with 183 HP (135 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque
  • A 2.0-liter diesel with 183 HP (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque
  • A 3.0-liter inline-six with 326 HP (240 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque

The latter model, the M235i, will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
